Donor Relations Manager

House of Ruth - Claremont


Job Title: Donor Relations Manager Job Summary: Responsible for donor acquisition, cultivation, stewardship of all individuals supporting House of Ruth, with the goal of growing individual donors into long term major or multi-year supporters. Reports to: Director of Development DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • In conjunction with the Director of Development, develop and implement strategies for solicitation that will grow annual revenue from individuals, including but not limited to: managing annual appeal campaigns, managing and monitoring online giving initiatives and coordinating special events. • Plan, develop, and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects including: acting as the primary relationship manager; developing and implementing a written donor strategy; and maintaining a relationship record of all interactions. • Work closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director and Board of Directors on the follow up and cultivation of donors. • Manage the donor database (Donor Perfect), which involves record maintenance, gift entry, acknowledgement letters, and development of reports to assess/develop donor and other fundraising strategies. • Create an annual cultivation and stewardship plan. • Provide monthly reports on activities to the Director of Development; evaluate progress on a quarterly basis. • Provide staff support to the Board Development Committee, the Board Special Events Sub-Committee and ad hoc committees. • Maintain timely flow of information with administrative, program and Executive Leadership teams • Support existing agency policies, maintains appropriate confidentiality about clients, shelter location and operations. • Exercise good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities. • Complete House of Ruth’s 40 hour staff and volunteer training program. • Other activities necessary to fulfill the functions of the position or as assigned by Director of Development.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree and/or Certification in Fundraising preferred. Experience: • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing development projects, including high level donor relationships. • A demonstrated record of accomplishment in fund development is highly desirable. • Able to monitor and meet revenue goals. • High talent in interacting with board members, high level donors, and leadership staff in a positive, professional manner, engendering cooperation. • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills. • Detailed knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of fund development. • Detailed knowledge of and skill in direct mail, donor cultivation, solicitation and events. • Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are: changes in workload; changes in assignment; pressures of deadlines: competing needs. • Ability to work independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Email Marketing Platforms, and Donor Database management. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
