A resident of Cathedral City since 2012, I am currently working as Grants Consultant and Writer for the City of Cathedral City helping both residents and civic leaders to accomplish a plan whose vision is to build a commercially vibrant and pedestrian friendly Civic Center – a resident and visitor destination of art and entertainment that is constructed based on principles of art, design and smart growth.
Previously, I worked with the Palm Springs Art Museum for over 2 years as Grants Consultant and Writer focusing on a revival and revitalization of the museum’s award seeking process – helping to make grant development an essential part of the institution’s culture of philanthropy. Leadership by example, emphasis on collaboration, and effective communication of needs to potential grantors have resulted in newly secured awards laying a foundation for growth and larger sum contracts and grants.
Prior to relocation to the Coachella Valley, I resided in Los Angeles for 32 years. In 1990, I established Proposal Writing for Development - a grant development consultancy and writer’s shop. Throughout this time I have contracted with many Southern California non-profit organizations involved with community development, environment, housing, human services, juvenile justice and delinquency prevention, and the performing/visual arts.
Currently, I am a member of the LAnSync Grant Writers Corps.
Proposals have been written and applications submitted for capacity building, capital campaigns, infrastructure, operating support, programming, rehabilitation and restoration; and for service based projects.
US Federal Agency Awards: U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development and Justice; Institute of Museum and Library Services; National Endowment for the Arts – Art Works, Challenge and Our Town Programs; and National Endowment for the Humanities.
State of California Awards: California Arts Council and most recently, California Natural Resources Agency - Museum Capital Grant Program.
Corporate and Foundation Awards: Annenberg Foundation, Bank of America (BofA)Charitable Foundation and BofA Neighborhood Program Initiative, Edison International, Wells Fargo Foundation, Hearst Foundations, Kresge Foundation, Ralph M. Parsons Foundation and Weingart Foundation, among others.
